DIY Hair Mask for Men and Why You Need One

DIY Hair Mask for Men

What is a hair mask for men, and why do you need one you ask?  In the driest winter months, when humidity drops to zero, and your forced air furnace runs every 3 minutes, everything in your body is slowly drying out.

As a result, your lips get chapped, your fingers start to bleed, your skin gets itchy, your scalp gets flaky, and your hair gets dry and dull.  A hair mask for men helps to infuse much needed moisture into your scalp and strands.

Luckily, you can combat a flaky scalp and hair with a few ingredients found in your pantry or refrigerator.

So, take time out of a Sunday evening, grab a beer, put on your favorite playlist or podcast and get started.

Here’s what you’ll need for your DIY Hair Mask for Men:

Ingredients:

2 Tbsp Coconut Oil-rich in fatty acids and high in lauric acid, known for its antibacterial properties

2 tsp Honey-excellent hydrating benefits with naturally anti-inflammatory properties and is a natural antiseptic

2 Tbsp Olive Oil-excellent antioxidant moisturizer

1 Egg-high in biotin and protein, which helps nourish the scalp and hair strands

2 Tbsp Plain Yogurt-high in lactic acid and protein, it helps improve the scalp’s natural moisture barrier

Unlike your Grandma’s legendary chocolate chip cookie recipe, this isn’t much of a science.

Grab a medium sized bowl and throw in a couple tablespoons of the coconut oil.  Coconut oil solidifies when the temperature is less than 76 degrees F.  If needed, put the bowl with coconut oil into the microwave for a few seconds until it melts.  You just need it to melt, not be hot.

Next, squeeze in a couple teaspoons of the honey into the coconut oil and pour a couple tablespoons of the olive oil into the mixture.

Next, crack an egg into the bowl, and add two tablespoons of plain yogurt into the concoction.

Stir until all the ingredients are mixed thoroughly, and it’s uniform throughout.

Reach into the mixture and massage into your scalp, covering each hair strand thoroughly.

Leave it in your hair for 30 minutes, being careful not to get it onto any furniture or important clothes (it’s probably best to just take your shirt off while doing this).

After 30 minutes, hop into the shower and rinse the mixture out of your hair.

Note: take a cooler shower, as a hot shower will scramble the egg in your hair, leaving small chunks of egg that can be difficult to remove.

That’s it!  This DIY Hair Mask for Men will tackle your dry scalp, so frustrating flakes won’t show up on your dark shirts or be visible in your hair.

Good luck!
