5 Fast Smoothie Recipes for a Healthy Body & Mind

On February 1st, I decided enough was enough, and that I was going to start waking up earlier with a rock-solid morning routine. Initially, I started waking up at 5am. Then, I decided that if I could do 5am, I could do 4:30am.

I’ll be honest…I feel great!

I’ve been following the “S.A.V.E.R.S.” method outlined in my previous article, The Miracle Morning: A Sample Morning Routine to Supercharge Your Day (based on The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod), where I spend time meditating, writing down my goals/affirmations, visualizing the positive things I want to bring into my life, doing beginner yoga from YouTube, reading, and writing (scribing) in my journal. This all takes one hour from start to finish.

I am more productive, I’m happier, I’m more positive, and my average blood pressure went from about 121/82 to 101/60 within a week.

Although I’ve only been doing it for 12 straight days, the positive effects are tremendous, and I highly recommend it to anyone who strives to become the best version of themselves as possible.

During the research and reading phase of my last article, I spent time studying other people’s routines. One of the common themes throughout their routines was the consumption of water, in addition to drinking a healthy smoothie each morning.

Even Elrod writes about incorporating a smoothie into the routine.

But, making smoothies is kind of a pain in the ass. There’s the prep work, ingredient accumulation, then the dreaded clean-up.

The purpose of this article is to provide 5 fast smoothie recipes with minimal ingredients that are easy to make. I like getting most bang for my buck whenever I do anything, the best value. Smoothie making is not immune to this.

Essentially, I want all the benefits a smoothie can offer as efficiently as possible, which led me to researching some good “superfoods” that can be incorporated into smoothies.

The following list, although not exhaustive, provides some “superfoods” that you can consider for fast smoothie recipes.  Note that some ingredients, such as apples and avocados, will take a little extra prep time to remove the seeds/pit.

  • Berries: blueberries, strawberries, cranberries, blackberries, raspberries
  • Leafy Greens: swiss chard, spinach, kale, collard greens
  • Greek Yogurt
  • Tomatoes
  • Bananas
  • Prunes
  • Ginger
  • Apples
  • Beets
  • Broccoli
  • Green Tea
  • Avocado
  • Sweet Potato
  • Oatmeal
  • Chia Seeds

From this list, you can create your own smoothies or check out some of mine below!  Remember, you’ll generally need quite a bit of a liquid base to get the ingredients moving around within the blender.  Examples of liquid bases include water, orange juice, apple juice, and coconut milk.
