5 Best Books to Read in 2018 for Building an Awesome Life

In my previous posts, I spoke about reading books and how they helped to get me off the couch and increase my productivity, building a foundation for an awesome life. So, I wanted to provide the 5 best books to read in 2018, the books that made a profound impact on my life and can do the same for you as well.

Some on the list have been around for quite awhile, and they are on numerous other “bests” lists.  In fact, my mother read number one in the 90’s and later gave it to me.  I was a teenager when I received it, and it sat in my dresser for years.  Like any rebellious, acne-prone teen, I thought I knew what was best, and was certainly not going to take any advice from a parent (sorry, Mom).

I read it several years later, and if I had to credit the start of this obsessive journey to build a better life, I would have to give it to number one on the list.  I guess in the end, parents do know what’s best.

1.  Rich Dad Poor Dad

Best Quote: “In school we learn that mistakes are bad, and we are punished for making them. Yet, if you look at the way humans are designed to learn, we learn by making mistakes. We learn to walk by falling down. If we never fell down, we would never walk.” -Robert Kiyosaki

2. The ONE Thing: The Surprisingly Simple Truth Behind Extraordinary Results

Best Quote: “Work is a rubber ball. If you drop it, it will bounce back. The other four balls– family, health, friends, integrity– are made of glass. If you drop one of these, it will be irrevocably scuffed, nicked, perhaps even shattered.” -Gary Keller

3. Grit: The Power of Passion and Perseverance

Best Quote: “I won’t just have a job; I’ll have a calling. I’ll challenge myself every day. When I get knocked down, I’ll get back up. I may not be the smartest person in the room, but I’ll strive to be the grittiest.” -Angela Duckworth

4. The Millionaire Fastlane: Crack the Code to Wealth and Live Rich for a Lifetime.

Best Quote: “All events of wealth are precluded by process, a backstory of trial, risk, hard work, and sacrifice. If you try to skip process, you’ll never experience events.” -MJ DeMarco

5. Originals: How Non-Conformists Move the World

Best Quote: “Argue like you’re right and listen like you’re wrong.” -Adam Grant

These are the 5 best books to read in 2018 to help build an awesome life.  Agree? Disagree? Any other reading suggestions?  We would love to hear them!

Thanks for reading,

Chris

  1. […] Even though some people don’t consider books to be the best gift in the world, perhaps your man isn’t one of them. If he’s a fan of reading and exploring new books, this could easily be the most appropriate gift you could opt for, and it’s all about finding the perfect book for your man. If he’s a fan of fiction, try The New York Times bestseller list, but if he prefers something else, choose a book that’s going to improve his quality of life. […]
